In Biblical Hebrew, “hamas” (חמס) means violence, destruction, malice, ruthlessness, fierceness. Its first appearances in the Bible are in Genesis 6:11,13: “The Earth also was corrupt before God, and the Earth was filled with violence…. And God said to Noah, ‘The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the Earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the Earth.'”
The Biblical Greek word is ἀδικίας (adikia), meaning wickedness, evil, wrongdoing, injustice, wrong; iniquity, falsehood, deceitfulness.
HAMAS, the acronym for the Islamic Resistance Movement, calls for establishing an Islamic Palestinian state in place of Israel and rejects all agreements with Israel.
In Arabic, the word “hamas” means enthusiam; bravery, strength.
Think about this, and what it would mean if you believe that the use of violence is a virtue that proves one’s loyalty and ‘manhood’.
Yeshua says that the last days would be like as in the days of Noah. Praise the true God and Savior, the Just One who suffered and died for the unjust (adikia), that He might bring us to God! (1Pt 3:18)
The Word of YHVH looks ahead with this great and precious promise to Israel through the prophet Isaiah 60:18: “Violence (hamas) shall no longer be heard in your land, neither wasting nor destruction within your borders; but you shall call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise.”
Even so, Come, Lord Jesus!
