Yeshua Became One With Us

Heb 5:8

Though He were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered.

Yeshua, as a flesh-and-blood man like us (except for sin), learned ‘first-hand’ as a Son what it was to do God’s will under the Law, placing His whole trust in God His Father. Jesus made the Law honorable. Among other things, He had to honor His earthly mother and father; He had to submit to worldly rulers, and to bear the consequences for calling them to account; He had to endure the attacks of the devil, and the unbelief and ridicule of His own natural brothers and sisters; He had to put up with slow-to-understand disciples; and He had to suffer the frustration of being in a body and under the influences of being in the world.

The Man Christ Jesus learned what it is to obey laws given for sinners; yet it is He, the LORD, who is Himself the Law-maker and -giver that all others are to obey! What condescension and love, that God our Savior should come and so willingly suffer for us — even to death on the cross — in order that He would be our sympathetic great High Priest, and that the Father would make us co-heirs with Him!

Praise be to God and to the Lamb upon the Throne, forever and ever!
