The U.N. General Assembly vote on Thursday heavily in favor of the Palestinians being a state-in-waiting (which they fully refused to accept exactly 65 years ago!) is a sign of things to come.
It reminds me of the time when the Jewish leadership considered that it would be better to sacrifice one Man totally innocent –the true Son of God — for a murderer and rebel, whose name Bar Abbas means ‘son of the father’ in Aramaic. They thought it would be expedient and prevent the Romans from ruining the nation. Now, a not totally innocent Jewish nation finds itself the one nation — but justified by God for her present existence and irrevocable calling — which the other nations of the world want to sacrifice and make a scapegoat, in the hope that they will not suffer any more at the hand of terrorists.
Israel then made, and the nations now are making, a huge mistake which will work against them far more than they ever imagined: similar to Adam who did not really understand the consequences of leaning on his own understanding. Human beings have not really changed, and there is nothing new under the sun.
