This huge and very unpleasant heavy dust yellowed the skies of Beer Sheva and all of Israel for three days last week. This was accompanied by higher than normal humidity levels, which simply made everything much more uncomfortable. The reason I am thinking and writing about this now is because, although the haboob has moved out, there is still a higher level of dust floating and settling around us here.
Although the phenomenon is called a “violent dust storm”, our haboob had very little wind associated with it, just hot, thick, dusty air like thick fog.
