2017: A Momentous Year

We are now into this new year of 2017, 5777 on the Jewish calendar (a 240-year discrepancy, but that is another story).  Three years ago I began to look at some significant dates connected with the return of the Jewish people back to this land of Israel, and also looking ahead to the coming again of Yeshua. ( http://streamsinthenegev.com/school-of-fish/eclectic-course-menu/dates-to-remember/ )

When the disciples asked Yeshua about the sign of His return at the end of the age, His first … Continue reading

The Inheritance of Yeshua – 28 Oct 2016

1Pe 1:3-9  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has regenerated us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,  (4)  to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, and unfading, reserved in Heaven for you  (5)  by the power of God, having been kept through faith to a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time;  (6)  in which you greatly rejoice, yet a … Continue reading

The Lamb Lives! – 21 Apr 2016

How good is our God! At the Passover, and for all those subsequent Passovers that the Israelis celebrated (in the past), many lambs were slain and blood shed in order for God to pass over the houses where He saw the blood, and in remembrance of that mighty initial act of salvation for His people, making His name great among the Jews and among the nations.

But poor lambs! They were offered in sacrifice that others could live, but they … Continue reading

Sexual Purity

Est 2:1-4,14  After these things, when the wrath of King Ahasuerus had calmed down, he remembered Vashti and what she had done, and what was decreed against her.  (2)  And the king’s young men who served him said, Let beautiful young virgins be sought for the king.  (3)  And let the king choose officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, so that they may gather together all the beautiful young virgins to Shushan the palace, to the house of … Continue reading

Being Light in The Coming Darkness – 16 Jan 2016

(An introduction to a study of the seven letters to the churches in Revelation, with the focus on believers being overcomers and light in the darkening world)

What is important to the Lord Jesus Christ regarding our spiritual condition as His disciples? He has given us the Law of Messiah in His sermon on the mount (Mt 5 – 7); He has given us to understand what the Kingdom of God is like in this world (Mt 13); He … Continue reading

The Birth and The Coming Again of Jesus

Today, as a congregation, we are celebrating the birth of the Messiah (who is called Christ). But we are also celebrating, remembering, and looking forward to the Lord’s return in great power and glory.  The Lord’s Supper reminds us of the death of our Savior God, who took on human flesh and blood, of the seed of Abraham, and of all humankind.

God always does His great acts in a manner that sets Him apart from all other gods and … Continue reading

No One Knows The Day Or Hour – 27 Feb 2015

Mk 13:28-37   “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 29 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that it is near—at the doors! 30 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

Who I Am In Messiah – 14 Jan 2015

Who are you?  Has anyone ever asked you that question?  Were they genuinely interested in knowing who you are, or were they challenging you?  Did you know how to answer the question?  Let’s look at a scene in the Bible, and how this question and answer can help us know who we are, our identity:

Jn 8:12-30 (23-25)   And [Yeshua] said to them, “You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of … Continue reading

The Birth of Yeshua Is A Blessing to Israel and to All Peoples – 19 Dec 2014

The God of Israel is a God who speaks.  He spoke the creation into existence!  He spoke to Adam, to Noah, Job, Abraham, Moses, Samuel, David – to many others.  We see that He spoke to the Prophets of Israel; and Yeshua, after His ascension to the right hand of the Father, spoke to the Apostles Peter, Paul, John in the New Testament.  God speaks, and it is good for those to whom He speaks when they listen to His … Continue reading

VISION: MESSIAH AND HIS KINGDOM

A leader is responsible to carry and direct those under his authority towards a goal.  It may be to win a battle in a war; or to build a winning team; or to govern a country to preserve its freedoms and values.

An elder or overseer or pastor in a church is responsible to rule the household of God and to bring God’s … Continue reading

VISION

Often when people are asked, ‘What is your vision?’, the answers range from:  ‘to be used by God for His glory’; or, ‘to see the young people on fire for Jesus’; or, ‘to start a discipleship program for Israeli believers after the army’; or, ‘to plant x number of churches in the next five years’; or, ‘the salvation of Israel’.

SALVATION OF ISRAEL AND GREAT HARVEST OF GENTILES

(Korean Israel Conference, “The Kingdom of God”, October 6, 2010, in Seoul)

There is hope for the nations:  Jesus Christ is coming again!  This has been my hope ever since being saved, and over the years it has not only not diminished, it has intensified.  Praise God!

Acts 1:6-8   Therefore, when they had come together, [the apostles] asked [Jesus], saying, ‘Lord, will You at … Continue reading

JESUS CHRIST CAME AND IS COMING IN THE FLESH

Lk 18:17   Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child, will by no means enter it.

Once again it has come to my attention of a false teaching concerning Yeshua.  It is not new, but it is influencing believers in the Body of Messiah in Israel – and I … Continue reading

RAISED UP ON THE LAST DAY

(Israel Conference – Langensteinbacherhohe:  “Eschatological Convictions”, Nov 20- 25, 2007)

I was saved almost 27 years ago now.  I was saved by grace through faith in the good news of God in Jesus Christ, not even yet convicted of being a sinner despite my sins.  And I was saved in hope:  Jesus was God’s plan for making the world right!  The Lord Jesus Christ is going to come back to bring righteousness and … Continue reading

JESUS CHRIST IS COME

(Our celebratory service this Shabbat was interrupted by a mob of unruly ultra-orthodox religious Jewish people.)

There was much messianic expectation around the time of Yeshua’s birth (Dan 9:24-26).  Hanukka itself is a holiday commemorating a messianic hope which gives Israel and the Jewish people freedom from their enemies in order to worship YHVH God in an acceptable way in our own land.  Simeon and Anna were waiting in hope … Continue reading

THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID

Amos 9:11-12   On that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, and repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old, that they may inherit the remnant of Edom and all the gentiles who are called by My Name, sys YHVH who does … Continue reading

The Joy of Fellowship in the Truth of God’s Love – 1 Oct 2004

1Pet 1:3-9 we rejoice greatly in Him whom we love for saving our souls

On the Day of Atonements last Shabbat, the Jewish believers amongst us then did a very significant thing (Neh 9:2):  we accepted and confessed our sin and rebellion against YHVH our God (Lev 26:40) and against His Son, the Messiah Jesus (Mt 27:25).

As priests of God in Christ – and as sons of our fathers, whether in the time of Moses or whether in the … Continue reading

Memorial of Shouts

Lev 23:24; Num 29:1 YHVH spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, on the one of the month, you shall have a sabbath rest, a Memorial of Blowing of Trumpets, a holy convocation.

SOWING AND REAPING – 31 July 2004

1Cor 15:12-20, 31-37, 42-44

Two weeks ago Horque (Rodriguez) spoke to us about the law of sowing and reaping.  We will reap what we sow (Gal 6:7).  This is true whether we sow good seed or bad seed.  Jesus sows the good seed; the devil sows the bad (Mt 13:37-39).  There is going to both a good harvest of good fruit and a bad one of bad fruit.  When things in … Continue reading

Spiritual Leprosy – Memorial of Trumpets

Mt. 8:1-4     . . .behold, there came a leper and he worshipped Him [Yeshua], saying, ‘Lord, if you are willing, You can make me clean’.  And He [Yeshua] stretched forth His hand, and touched him, saying, ‘I am willing; be cleansed!  And immediately his leprosy was cleansed (healed).

Is. 53:4       Surely He [the Arm of the LORD] has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.

VISION OF THE GLORY: THE PRESENCE AND KINGDOM OF GOD

(Israel Conference at Langensteinbacherhohe, Karlsruhe, Germany:  “Radicalism and The Testimony of Christ in Israel”, 22-28 Oct 1999)

Hebrews 9:27-28

Radicalism is sustained by a utopian spirit which believes and works toward the vision of a future qualitatively different than the present.  It will often look to the past for its inspiration, for example naive notions of the Garden of Eden or of a former “golden age”.  Or as in the case of the “utopia” … Continue reading

Memorial of Blowing of Trumpets

Lev. 23:24-25    – a Shabbat, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation, an offering made by fire Is. 62:6-12      – remind YHVH of His salvation for Israel and for Jerusalem

The devil is busy sowing his bad seed amongst the good seed of the Kingdom of Heaven  (Mt. 13:24-30).  The Lord Yeshua tell us that this bad seed–and its fruit–will remain until the end of the age.  The Day of the LORD (YHVH)–the day of vengeance of our God (Amos … Continue reading

Being Reconciled to God and to One Another

Matt. 23:16-21   The altar is greater than the gift

Matt. 5: 21-24   First be reconciled to your brother, and then offer your gift upon the altar

The calendar tells us that it is a new year,  a year which reminds us and the world that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh into the world which He made.  We can look back and consider how our God has watched over us and has kept us.  We can look ahead and … Continue reading

The Time of the Lord Yeshua’s Second Coming

(Updated Aug 7, 2014)

Just as the birth, death, and resurrection of the promised and prophesied Messiah and Savior occurred at the appointed time and in the fullness of time, so, too, will be His return as Lord of every man. (Gal 4:4; Eph 1:9-10)

On the human side, we are plainly told by the Lord Jesus that we can not know precisely … Continue reading
