PEACE IN THE MIDST OF TERROR – 17 Apr 2013

Shalom with God to all of you,

With the evil of the terrorist bombings at the Boston Marathon shocking the civilized world once again at the brutal character of those who worship a god of vengeance and death, in Israel the celebration of the 65th year of statehood has just concluded, a testimony to the faithfulness of the living God  of the living who gave His Son to be brutalized to death, in the greatest expression of love this world has ever known, offering forgiveness to all who will believe the love of the truth. The Lord Yeshua sympathizes as our High Priest with all who suffer unrighteously the brutality of murderous hatred, for He Himself has suffered the same in His body and soul and spirit.  Praise to God forever that this same Jesus lives forevermore by His resurrection from the dead in power over death, the last enemy!

As I write this, I have heard a report of three rockets shot at the southern city of Eilat.  No injuries are reported, but terror does not need actual victims; it only needs to take away peace from the ordinary lives of ordinary people going about their ordinary lives.  In the harsh reality of a world against the truth of the true God and Savior, it seems as if this will only increase before all is done. (Rev 6:3-4)  And it is the Lord Yeshua/Jesus Himself who will loose the restraint.  Our hope is in Him, who knows how to keep our souls secure through faith as we look for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, no matter what may come between now and the Finish Line.

JEWISH TERRORIST JACK TEITEL CONDEMNED – 9 Apr 2013

Today in the Jerusalem District Court, the three judges in the case of “Jewish terrorist”, Jack Teitel, found him completely responsible for his “cold-blooded” acts of murder and of attempted murder.  In the courtroom, when asked by reporters whether he had any regrets for what he had done, he said the he “has no regret nor is he sorry for what he did”, and that he would do it again if he had to.  Teitel received two consecutive life sentences for the two murders he committed, plus 30 more years in jail for the other attempts he carried out.  In addition, he was ordered to pay a total of 680,000 ILS ($190,000) to the various victims of his crimes.

The judges, in their sentencing, said that despite all the religious claims of the murderer, he had violated the values of the people and nation, and the commandment which states, “You shall not murder”.

The  case was particularly of interest to the Messianic/Christian community in Israel, because one of the victims was Ami Ortiz, the teenaged (at that time in March, 2008, during Purim) son of David and Leah.  He opened a supposed Purim gift box left at the front door of their apartment, and the bomb blast severely wounded and damaged Ami and the home.  Till today, Ami suffers from shrapnel still in his body, loss of hearing, pains, loss of three toes.  Yet with all that, thanks to God, he has recovered wonderfully in body and soul.

None of the Ortiz family expresses any hatred toward Teitel, yet were determined to see that justice was done to such a one that has expressed no remorse and showed no mercy.

Israeli law does not recognize Jewish terror against Israelis or other Jews, which means that the Ortiz family has received no compensation from the government as victims of a terrorist act; whereas the Arab Palestinians who were his victims have received compensation.  The Ortizes and their lawyers hope that this case will spur the government to modify the law to recognize that even Jewish people can be victims of other Jews simply for ideological reasons.

Here is the translation of an exerpt of the judges’ opening remarks in the courtroom, which form the conclusion of their transcript, before declaring th sentence on Teitel:

“Before the end (when the sentencing will take place) we want to repeat and emphasize: it was proven before us that feelings of hatred and frustration were used by the defendant while committing criminal acts, while sacred values became dust at his feet. We know that life is sacred and to be respected in every way, but we did not find a sign or memory of that knowledge in the possession of the defendant.  Our scriptures command us: “Thou shalt not murder”, but the defendant stopped up his ears and eyes, and murdered and attempted to murder in cold blood. Every crime that he committed, was saturated with the contamination of the hatred of his mind and heart….

His actions become more evident and obvious, the murders were committed only because of the Arab origins of his victims, who were unarmed, without any threat of visible weapons or intimidation on their part towards him. The rest of the offenses the defendant committed were ideologically motivated. This is not a one case incident or a mistake, what we have before us is – a phenomenon.

The democratic System of government is honorable and worthy, when it is established on an interaction between the different segments of the nations that dwell in the country, Jews and Arabs as one, and the state institutions, which should be accompanied by a sense of trust and general confidence that prevails for every citizen, regardless of origin, whose actions are not led by arbitrariness of the heart but by appropriate values which we all want to depend on.

The State of Israel is blessed in this regard with governmental institutions that operate according to law, in a legal constitutional environment where sacred values are used as candles for its feet and human dignity and freedom are the leading values. But this matter in question invaded to the depths of our consciousness – and indeed violated one of the basic premises which guides us on a daily basis. The ruling in this case leaves no room for doubt: the murders, the attempted murders and other crimes committed by the defendant were directed at the heart of this country’s values which were stated beforehand, but it should be emphasized – that these malicious intentions cannot be tolerated by a society that fights against those who would try to destroy it.

This is true all year round, but even more so during these days between Memorial Day, Holocaust Memorial Day, and Independence Day.”

THE INCOMPARABLE HOLOCAUST – 8 Apr 2013

Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day in Israel.  This annual memorial gives living eye-witness testimony  to  the truth of the incomparable catastrophe known as the Holocaust, with a capital ‘H’.  There has till now been nothing else like it on a national or ethnic scale, however horribly many people or nations have suffered from the hands of God, devils, or humans.

In the face of so much proof from both victims and perpetrators — and from their descendants — it is not only incredible how there can be so many who deny its actuality, but it also demands of those who do know the truth to speak up and out about it in order to ‘keep truth alive’.  A similar thing occurred not long after the crucifixion and the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ:  despite all evidence attesting to the truth of what actually happened, that truth was denied and suppressed until today, when multitudes are actually dull of hearing and feeling to believe the truth and its condemnation on the one hand, and its redemptive hope beyond all mortal reasoning on the other.   The restoration of the Jewish people as a nation in its land — promised long ago by YHVH to His chosen people — is a revival the like of which is also incomparable with other peoples and lands.

There was an attempt yesterday to ‘wipe Israel off the internet’ by those whose irrational hatred of Israel and the Jewish people have led them to waste their lives and energies on acts of hatred and evil, totally ignoring that it is from the Jewish people and from YHVH, the God of Israel, that all that is good and beneficial to mankind has come.  That terrible things also come through Jewish people should be no surprise to people  that understand the sinfulness of human beings, whoever they be.  There is no ‘mankind’ apart from the truth that the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob/Israel created us in His image and likeness, from which we have all fallen, and to which He calls us to return through repentance and faith in the gospel.   Yeshua/Jesus sows His seed; the devil sows his.  The spirit of antisemitism and of antichrist are both directed against God Himself and His Son. (Ex 4:22; Rom 1:1-5)

The God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ (Yeshua the Messiah) has said, and still says:

“Do not fear, O Jacob My servant”, says YHVH:  For I am with you.  For I will make a complete end of all the nations to which I have driven you, but I will not make a complete end of you.  I will justly  discipline/chastise you, and I will not let you off wholly unpunished.”  (Jer 46:28)

“Truly these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all persons everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained.  He has given assurance of this to all by raising [Yeshua/Jesus] from the dead.” (Acts 17:30-31)
